Get right firstElixir management

Most ladder losses in Clash Royale aren't about having rare cards — they're about spending elixir worse than your opponent. Tighten these seven habits and you'll out-trade players who out-collect you.

1
Don't open the game by dropping a cardLet your opponent commit first. React to what they play with a positive elixir trade instead of guessing into an empty board.
2
Count elixir, and track their cycleBoth players regenerate elixir at the same rate. If they spend 6 and you spend 4 to stop it, you're up 2 — that gap is your next push. Their deck is only 8 cards, so learn what's coming back.
3
Build a balanced deckOne win condition, an answer to air, at least one spell, and a cheap cycle card. Four costly cards and you'll get run over while you wait for elixir.
4
Defend first, then counter-pushThe cheapest offense is the troops that survive your defense. Soak their push, then send the survivors back the other way with support.
5
Never dump your whole handOvercommitting on one push leaves you with no elixir to defend the counter. Keep a few in reserve, always.
6
Place defensive buildings centrallyA building in the middle pulls and kites tanks away from your tower, buying time and damage. Placement beats raw stats.
7
Spend spells for valueHold your spell until it hits multiple troops or finishes a tower at the right moment. Burning a spell on a single unit is how close games slip away.

Common mistakes

Chasing the latest "best deck" instead of mastering one; reacting to every push with your most expensive answer; and tilting after a loss into an immediate rematch. Stick with a deck for a few hundred games before judging it.

The fastest trophy gains come from one habit: only make trades where you spend less than your opponent. Everything above is a version of that.
